AS part of its ongoing commitment to promote healthy and active lifestyles, Watsons Malaysia recently hosted the Watsons Get Active Jom Sihat Carnival 2024.
Held in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the event brought together more than 8,000 participants at Pavilion Bukit Jalil Piazza.
Watsons Malaysia managing director and Health & Beauty Asia, A.S. Watson Group chief operating officer Caryn Loh said, the event highlights Watsons’ ongoing dedication to empowering their customers and members to lead healthier, more active lives.
“The Get Active initiative has grown significantly over the years, while Pink Hope continues to serve as a vital platform for engaging the public in meaningful, health-focused activities.
“This year, we are focusing on inspiring individuals to prioritise their well-being through exercise, nutrition, and mental wellness, with support from Watsons’ health advisors, pharmacists, and nutritionists,” she added.
This year is the 10th anniversary of the Watsons Get Active Carnival, filled with fun activities for everyone.
The event kicked off with a fun run, followed by calming yoga sessions, an energetic pound routine, lucky draws, a healthy cooking demo, and ended with an exhilarating Zumba session.
Participants also had the opportunity to explore the Health & Beauty Bazaar, featuring product samples, wellness services, interactive activities, and more. Watsons’ team of pharmacists were also on-site to provide health checks.
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA) Malaysia, Universiti Malaya (UM), and Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur (PHKL) joined forces to educate participants through a series of public talks.
These sessions, led by subject matter experts, provided valuable insights into breast cancer prevention and early detection. BCWA also hosted a breast check station to encourage participants to take proactive steps toward their health.
“We are deeply grateful to our key partners for their continued support. Together, we are united in delivering an important message about health, hope, and community.
“Through our PinkHope charity kits, we have also taken the initiative to raise funds for breast cancer survivors, ensuring they receive essential post-surgery support.
“Additionally, we will contribute RM5 from each ticket sold for this Carnival to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA) for their efforts and dedication in helping those in need,” said Loh.
The Pink Hope Kit, which is available at Watsons’ stores nationwide and online, was created to raise funds for the purchase of custom-made bras for breast cancer survivors.
The kit is priced at RM49 and consists of health and beauty items, along with a voucher worth more than RM296. Customers can purchase this kit at selected stores in Klang Valley.
The event was also attended by Watsons Malaysia chief operating officer Danny Hoh, BCWA secretary Liew Swee Lee, UM senior consultant breast surgeon and the UM Cancer Institute head Professor Dr Nur Aishah Taib, PHKL chief executive officer Erica Lam, Watsons Malaysia’s ambassador Adya Jebat and Watsons Malaysia’s celebrity friend Datuk Nicol Ann David.
