IPOH: The Higher Education Ministry is waiting for a report first in regards to university students detained during a raid on a swingers sex syndicate in Kuala Lumpur, says Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

The Minister said he would need to get more information on the matter before making any comments.

“I will need to receive the reports first, as I don’t want to make any sweeping statements, because it has to be based on facts.

“Whatever the case, regarding who commits such illegal activities, the authorities will take the necessary action.

“Such activities are serious issues that need to be looked into,” he told reporters after launching the Index Nexus Polycc: Synergy between Polycc and Industries at the Ungku Omar polytechnic here on Wednesday (Sept 4).

Zambry was asked to comment on the 36 individuals who were detained in the raid, which included university students, civil servants and foreigners.

The youngest person nabbed was a 19-year-old woman.

It was reported that a swingers syndicate, which organised group sex for its 147,000 subscribers or “clients”, was busted with the arrest of 36 people.

It is learnt that the syndicate, which operated online, offered subscribers a chance to swap partners as well as take part in group sex in condominiums around the Klang Valley.

Each customer was charged RM388 to become a subscriber.

The syndicate, led by a Singaporean and a Malaysian, was believed to have been operating since early this year.
