Will AI soon be browsing the Web for you?

Google is reportedly working on an intelligent assistant dedicated to its Chrome web browser, which will be, in particular, capable of carrying out certain practical tasks for the web user, such as online purchases or reservations.

According to The Information, Google has a mysterious project in the works, codenamed “Jarvis”, focused on the development of an artificial intelligence that will make online navigation even simpler, taking over routine tasks such as finding information, booking flights or buying products online.

In essence, the aim is to develop an intelligent assistant integrated into Chrome, capable of responding to written or vocal commands. In practice, this means that it could, for example, fill in forms or validate various options for the user. Over time, as it learns from the user’s habits, it will become increasingly personalised, fast and efficient.

This AI would run on Chrome, Google’s in-house browser and also (by far) the most widely used in the world. Unsurprisingly, this AI will be based on a Gemini multimodal model. The arrival of such an assistant would be an obvious time-saver. It remains to be seen, however, to what extent it will be able to be congifured and whether or not it will have access to sensitive personal data, thus respecting the privacy of its users.

According to The Information, Google could make “Jarvis” public by the end of the year, although the first tests will be reserved for a small group of users. – AFP Relaxnews
