According to California police, two women entered a nail supply store and shoplifted before leaving. However, one of the women returned to the store shortly after, only a few minutes after their initial departure, to ask for her phone that she had dropped. The Murrieta Police Department reported this incident on Sept 25.
When the store employee refused to return the phone to the woman, who had her California driver’s license and credit card in the phone’s case, she declared that she would not return the stolen items either. Following this, she assaulted an employee before leaving the store once again. The police stated that the employee sustained minor injuries and the woman was subsequently charged with robbery.
Fox 29 reported that the total value of the stolen merchandise amounted to US$600 (RM2,823), which was less than the worth of the phone the woman left behind. Police officers located the women in their car, parked outside their residence approximately a mile from the store. The stolen items were clearly visible in the car and the women were subsequently taken into custody.
According to Fox 29, the women have since been released from custody after posting bail. The town of Murrieta is located about 60 miles north of San Diego.
