A worker lost their life in the northwest region of Brittany, France, while repairing damage to the electricity network caused by Storm Ciaran. This storm has already resulted in the deaths of at least two other individuals in the country. The precise details surrounding the accident have yet to be determined, according to energy distribution network operator Enedis.
At present, due to Storm Ciaran and Storm Domingos, a total of 297,000 households in France find themselves without electricity as affirmed by Enedis. Storm Ciaran saw a powerful jet stream originating from the Atlantic, leading to heavy rain and strong winds that caused significant flooding in several countries across Western Europe. Simultaneously, Storm Domingos began approaching France over the weekend.
France’s Minister of Energy, Agnes Pannier-Runacher, expressed condolences to the family, loved ones, and affected colleagues of the deceased worker through a post on the social media platform X on Sunday. Pannier-Runacher further highlighted that the worker was sent as a reinforcement from the Midi-Pyrenees region and was among 3,400 Enedis employees mobilized to address the storm-related damages.
