    CAIRO — Five people were killed on Sunday in a road accident in Benha City of Qalyubia Governorate, north of Egypt’s capital Cairo, state-run Akhbar El-Yom newspaper reported.

    DAMASCUS — Loud explosions jolted an arms depot near the Syrian capital of Damascus in the early hours of Sunday, a war monitor reported.

    The depot belongs to the Lebanese Hezbollah group and is located 20 km southwest of Damascus in a mountainous area near the Syrian-Lebanese border, said the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, adding it believed the explosions were the result of “an Israeli intelligence operation.” (Syria-Hezbollah-Arms Depot Explosions)

    TEHRAN — At least one person was killed and eight others injured on Sunday in a “terrorist” attack on the Shah Cheragh shrine in Iran’s southern Fars province, the official news agency IRNA reported.

    SANAA — Lightning strikes killed four people and injured four others in separate accidents in Yemen’s northern provinces, local health authorities said on Sunday.
