MELAKA: Flood victims in Masjid Tanah here received the attention and care of Yayasan PETRONAS, the corporate social responsibility arm of the national oil and gas company.
The foundation distributed essential items to dozens of flood evacuees by handing over the assistance to the Melaka Welfare Department.
In a statement Friday (Aug 23), the foundation said it gave away 180 packages of the items to be given to the evacuees.
PETRONAS gift cards were also handed over to a state government official to be utilised by relevant agencies involved in taking care of the welfare of the evacuees and for the purchase of fuel for vehicles involved in the relief works.
PETRONAS Southern Territory general manager Mohd Zaki Datuk Mahat said the aid was part of the foundation’s continued commitment to assist those who are in need.
“We also like to extend our gratitude to frontliners as well as volunteers who were involved in the relief and rescue works,” he said.
He added that the foundation has reached a total of 10,000 flood evacuees throughout the country to distribute such items since the end of last year.
