Similar to liking photos on Instagram, Reddit users can give an upvote to indicate that they like or agree with a comment or post. These upvotes contribute to the accumulation of “karma” points.
In the United States, Reddit’s new program enables users to earn money based on their engagement with the platform. The more “karma” points a user earns, the more money they can make.
However, in order to monetize these contributions, users must also purchase a virtual currency called Reddit Gold. By using this virtual currency to give creators a “golden upvote,” users can reward the contributions they appreciate.
To be eligible for monetization, Reddit contributors must meet certain criteria. They must be over 18 years old and residents of the United States. Additionally, they need to provide verification information, and their contributions must be public and created at least 30 days ago.
So how much money can Redditors earn through this program? The amount earned depends on the number of “karma” points accumulated. Users need to reach specific levels to unlock payments. For example, users with 100 to 4999 karma points can earn 90 cents for a golden upvote. If they exceed 5000 karma points, they will make $1 per golden upvote. However, users can only receive their money after earning 10 golden upvotes.
This new monetization system aims to incentivize and reward active participation on Reddit. It gives users the opportunity to earn money while engaging with the platform and appreciating valuable content.
