JASIN: A 24-year-old man has been brutally murdered in a gangland-style attack at the Jasin Hospital here with medical staff and patients witnessing the scene of terror.
Jasin OCPD Deputy Supt Ahmad Jamil Radzi said the victim was first attacked by a group of masked men armed with machetes at a barber shop in Taman Rim Baru here at about 8.40pm on Sunday (Aug 25).
“The injured victim managed to contact his 22-year-old brother to drive him to the Jasin Hospital to seek medical attention.
“However, upon arriving at the emergency department of the hospital, the assailants returned and again started to attack him mercilessly and even smashed the windscreen of the car,” he said on Monday (Aug 26)
DSP Ahmad Jamil said the victim’s brother fled the scene terrified and sought shelter at the Jasin police headquarters where he also lodged a police report.
He said an ambulance parked at the emergency unit was also damaged in the fracas while the victim succumbed to injuries at about 10.15pm on the same day (Aug 25).
DSP Ahmad Jamil added that three suspects aged between 21 and 31 years were detained on Monday (Aug 26) and police have launched a manhunt to track two more suspects still at large.
“We have obtained a seven-day remand order on all three to assist investigation under Section 320 of the Penal Code for murder,” he said.
DSP Ahmad Jasmil said police are probing whether the motive of the attack is related to a feud between triad members or vengeance.
“The brutality of the attack was also videoed by eye-witnesses at the scene,” he said.
