PUTRAJAYA: Young people are a significant political force, especially with the implementation of UNDI18, which has granted them the right to vote, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
“In my speech at the Federal Territory and Putrajaya MCA state convention this morning, I once again emphasised the importance of support from our youth.
“The strong support from young people, which will potentially translate into votes, can help the party achieve victory in elections, while their participation in the party will ensure that the party remains active and relevant in the national political arena,” the MCA president said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Aug 25).
Dr Wee, who is also Ayer Hitam MP, said equally important is the role of women in politics, as more and more women are making significant contributions in various fields.
“Youth and women, as the party’s wings, need to shoulder the heavy responsibility of gaining support from these two groups: young people and women,” he added.
Also present during the convention were party deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon, secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon, vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng and MCA top leadership from the Federal Territory and Putrajaya.
