PETALING JAYA: Despite living close to the landslide site that occurred in Taman Melawati, Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday (Oct 15), Datuk Yusof Haslam says he has no plans to leave his six-storey home there.
The acclaimed director, whose house is located about 400m from the site, said he had lived here for the past 20 years and did not evacuate during previous landslide incidents.
“I’m not being overconfident but I leave everything to God. This also isn’t the first time a landslide has occurred here and I have taken precautionary measures,” he told Sinar Harian.
Yusof also said he hoped stakeholders would take stronger measures to ensure such incidents do not repeat.
On Tuesday, a continuous heavy downpour led to a landslide along Jalan E6 in Taman Melawati.
The police had also ordered residents of 20 houses near the location to evacuate their homes.
