PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has called on Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to rethink his approach and refrain from using everything at his disposal as a campaign tool. The Barisan Nasional chairman emphasized that misconstruing facts for personal gain or to attract a political following is not acceptable. He stated, “Politics is a serious matter and should not be taken lightly.” Speaking to reporters on Thursday (July 13), Zahid Hamidi stated that he would not engage in a debate with someone who cannot distinguish between fact and fiction.
During a recent event in Selangor, Sanusi targeted leaders of the unity government. Reports indicate that he accused Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of exploiting a decree by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to establish a government unilaterally. Sanusi also purportedly criticized the Sultan of Selangor for appointing Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari as the Mentri Besar.
This clash between Sanusi and Zahid Hamidi highlights the growing tension within Malaysian politics. The Kedah Mentri Besar’s allegations have ignited a controversy, with critics arguing that such remarks detract from the unity government’s efforts. Zahid Hamidi’s remarks suggest that he finds Sanusi’s rhetoric baseless and unconstructive.
The public eagerly awaits the response from Sanusi, as this exchange of comments may influence public opinion in the coming days. It remains to be seen whether the two politicians will engage in further debate or find a way to address their grievances behind closed doors.
As this political dispute unfolds, it serves as a reminder that responsible and evidence-based statements are crucial in maintaining the integrity of the political system. The public deserves leaders who prioritize facts over personal agendas and engage in productive discussions rather than mudslinging.
