AYER LANAS: The people in Kelantan have been informed that they can expect a better quality of life if Barisan Nasional-Pakatan Harapan succeeds in the upcoming state election. Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the Deputy Prime Minister, said, “Seize this opportunity to improve your lives and put an end to the 33-year-long struggle of the Kelantan people.” He also assured Kelantan residents that their outstanding water bills would be forgiven if their alliance wins the election. “If we emerge victorious, all overdue water bills from Aug 12 and the previous years will be waived,” he announced at an event on Monday (Aug 7).
Furthermore, Zahid promised to reduce property premium charges by 50% and establish a Kelantan Tahfiz Quran and Science University College. He acknowledged that many people in the state are forced to seek employment in other states due to limited job opportunities. Therefore, he pledged to increase job opportunities and investments in Kelantan.
Zahid urged voters to support their alliance in order to secure at least 23 seats, allowing a unity government to form the state government. He also commended Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for allocating RM1.7 billion for a flood mitigation system, emphasizing that the state has been treated fairly.
“Give BN-PH a chance to govern the state, or else the people here will continue to struggle,” Zahid appealed. He promised to prove to the people of Kelantan that they will fulfill the pledges outlined in their manifesto over the next five years.
On Saturday (Aug 5), Kelantan Barisan chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub unveiled the alliance’s state manifesto, which focuses on issues such as water bills, Islamic development, and affordable housing.
The Kelantan state election is scheduled for Saturday (Aug 12), with early voting taking place on Wednesday (Aug 8).
