KYIV (Reuters) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has reported that a Russian guided aerial bomb struck a blood transfusion center in Kupiansk, a town located in the eastern Kharkiv region, late on Saturday. The president made the announcement on his Telegram channel, stating that there were casualties resulting from the attack. However, at present, Reuters has been unable to independently verify this information. Kupiansk, which serves as a railway hub, is situated less than 10 miles away from the frontlines.
President Zelenskiy further stated that emergency responders were presently trying to extinguish a fire at the site of the incident. Additionally, he condemned the strike as a “war crime,” yet refrained from providing specific details regarding the number of fatalities or injuries sustained.
Meanwhile, Russia has denied intentionally targeting civilians throughout the course of its full-scale invasion, which has tragically claimed the lives of numerous individuals, displaced millions, and ravaged entire cities.
