    Zii Jia's bronze medal win leaves Malaysians breathless

    PETALING JAYA: Malaysians experienced another heart-stopping round of badminton fever as Lee Zii Jia (pic) battled against India’s Lakshya Sen.

    Hearts in every household soared as the World No. 7 shuttler clinched the nation’s second bronze medal in an electrifying match at the Paris Olympics.

    The online community was flooded with comments of praise and sheer pride after the match.

    Juliet Choi took to Facebook to congratulate the 26-year-old player: “Congratulations to LZJ. This bronze medal isn’t easy to deserve.”

    “All over, it was a hard fight and sweat but only then you won it. Well, thanks LZJ for bringing one more bronze for our country,” she wrote.

    Amos Goh commended Zii Jia’s performance in a comment, saying, “Zii Jia showed nerves of steel with that massive comeback in the 2nd set! We’re so proud of you! Thank you Zii Jia!”

    Instagram user @em.eeml expressed her gratitude in a comment saying, “Well done and thank you LZJ! Way to go!”

    “Amazing how badminton unites every one of us regardless of race or religion. Kudos to LZJ, another deserving victory to silence the haters. Hopefully the next Olympics will be your stage to shine,” wrote @jasonjk on the same platform.

    Kelwin Lim also penned his pride online, writing, “Good job and well done for keeping Malaysia flagged in the Olympics! Keep it up!”

    Facebook user Hasan Bin Jaafar wrote, “Congratulations LZJ. You Can Do It. Great Fighter!”

    Rajiv RK Nair shared the sentiment with his post, “Congratulations, LZJ. You have proved your critics wrong with your excellent performances throughout this Olympic Games.”

    Previously, Lee Zii Jia’s semi-final loss to Thailand’s reigning world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn had left many fans feeling let down.

    However, spirits have risen as he delivered an electrifying victory that earned Malaysia its second bronze medal of the games.
