The Selangor Coast Club Klang, a social and recreational club that was established in 1906, recently organized its first 5km Merdeka Walk for its members, families, and guests. The event took place in Klang and coincided with National Day and Malaysia Day. It started at 7.30am and concluded at 9.30am.
The inaugural walk was inaugurated by North Klang OCPD Asst Comm S. Vijaya Rao, who is also an honorary member of the club. Other attendees included head of Bandar Baru Klang police station, Insp Mohd Amirul Rosli, and North Klang IPD logistics head, ASP Mohd Nizam Sulaiman.
Dr S. Subramaniam, who served as the emcee, stated that the purpose of the event was to promote a healthier lifestyle among members. Club president Goh Keng Cheng, during his speech, expressed the club’s desire to celebrate togetherness, wellness, and adhere to the Malaysia Madani theme. He also expressed hope that the walk would become an annual event.
Furthermore, Goh announced the club’s intention to take the OCPD’s advice to collaborate with the police in organizing a crime awareness and prevention program for young people aged 14 to 21. The program would focus on raising awareness about illegal activities such as drug abuse and gambling.
