A 13-year-old boy who tried to rob an ehailing driver is set to be charged at the Sungai Petani Magistrate’s Court on Sunday (Dec 3).

Kuala Muda OCPD Asst Coom Zaidy Che Hassan stated that the charge was made after the case was referred to the public prosecutor. He also mentioned that the teenager will be charged under Section 393 of the Penal Code, according to a statement on Saturday (Dec 2).

The incident occurred when the boy attempted to stab and rob an ehailing driver in Taman Keladi, near here, around 6pm on Nov 27. The 65-year-old driver managed to avoid injury and even bit the suspect’s hand, disarming him as a result. The teenager then fled the scene.

A ‘dashboard’ camera installed in the ehailing driver’s car captured the teenager’s actions, and the video, which lasted a minute and 32 seconds, quickly went viral on social media.

The boy was arrested by the police at 10pm after the driver reported the incident at 8pm on the same day, according to Bernama.
