KUALA LUMPUR: According to Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, a total of 22 police reports have been filed rejecting the Save Malaysia rally that is scheduled to take place in the city on Saturday, September 16. The Inspector-General of Police stated that the reports were made by various individuals including business owners, the public, and non-government organizations. Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed that these reports expressed dissatisfaction with the rally, as it is expected to disrupt business operations and public activities. He further stated that appropriate investigations will be carried out in response to these reports.
Moreover, the organisers have failed to comply with Section 10 of the Peaceful Assembly Act, which requires them to submit a notice to the police. Tan Sri Razarudin Husain expressed his disappointment with this non-compliance, emphasizing that the rally is not an appropriate way to “save Malaysia” and urging all parties to respect Malaysia Day. He also warned that such protests could potentially disrupt public activities and advised the public not to participate in the rally.
In anticipation of the rally, Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid confirmed that an adequate number of personnel will be deployed on Saturday to ensure public order. He assured that no roads will be closed, but mentioned that if protestors decide to march, the police will take necessary action. Comm Allaudeen highlighted the importance of everyone playing their part in ensuring safety and urged all protestors to abide by the law. He noted that this is not the first protest in KL, thus indicating the need for individuals to respect the regulations in place.
