More than 3,000 people from over 100 countries are expected to gather in Kuala Lumpur for the 11th World Tamil Conference. The conference aims to discuss the global development of the Tamil language.
The participants of the conference will include Tamil thinkers, poets, researchers, writers, and others. They will be presenting their research papers and works during the event. Notably, participants from India, Singapore, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, France, the United States, South Africa, and the United Kingdom will be attending.
With a duration of three days, the conference will commence on July 21 and will be co-chaired by Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar and MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to officiate the conference, which is organized by the Indian Studies Department of Universiti Malaya.
On another note, an incident was reported where an Indian man from Tamil Nadu was arrested for stabbing a woman who rejected his romantic interest. The man, Navin, had followed the woman as she was returning home one day. After the attack, he fled the scene but was caught a few kilometers away, according to the police.
