PETALING JAYA: A tragic incident occurred along Jalan SS9A/8 in Sungai Way on Sunday (July 23) afternoon, resulting in the death of a four-year-old girl in a road accident.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid reported that the young victim, who was a foreigner, was struck by a four-wheel drive vehicle as she dashed across the road. Despite efforts to brake, the driver was unable to prevent the collision. Sadly, the girl succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).
Authorities have taken the driver into custody and subsequently released him on police bail, pending further investigation into the incident. Anyone who witnessed the accident is strongly encouraged to reach out to traffic investigations officer Insp Navalan Ravindran at 014 2536 820.
