SEPANG: A donation drive called Ops Ihsan has collected approximately 50 tonnes of humanitarian supplies worth about RM7mil, which will be sent to Palestine through Egypt by this Friday (Oct 27) at the latest, according to Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar. The supplies include medicines, baby essentials, blankets, and food. The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) stated that the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations (Mapim) and Global Peace Mission (GPM) Malaysia, along with other NGOs, coordinated the humanitarian aid. They are currently awaiting permission from the Egyptian government to send the donations through the Rafah border gate in Egypt.
Dr. Mohd Na’im Mokhtar stated that once the aid reaches the Rafah border gate, the NGOs there will oversee its distribution to the Palestinians. During his visit to the Palestinian humanitarian supplies collection centre at the Mapim warehouse, Dr. Mohd Na’im presented a mock cheque for RM100,000, donated by Lembaga Tabung Haji, to Mapim for the purchase of medical supplies for the Palestinians.
