Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong announced that 540 Deepavali care packages have been given out to the Indian community in the Ayer Hitam parliamentary constituency.
He shared the news in a Facebook post on Thursday (Nov 9), stating that his Service Centre, in collaboration with the Yong Peng assemblyman’s Service Centre, had been carrying out the distribution of the Deepavali packages since last week.
Dr Wee mentioned, “Today, I rushed back to attend the distribution centre at Taman Kota Yong Peng in conjunction with Deepavali, which will be celebrated on Nov 12.”
He also noted that his special officer Yu Yong Min and Yong Peng assemblyman Ling Tian Soon had been distributing the packages with the assistance of volunteers.
The MCA president continued, “Today, 150 Deepavali care packages were distributed and I managed to spend time chatting with the constituents in the area.”
In expressing his gratitude, he also thanked the volunteers for helping to distribute the packages despite the almost daily rain.
He added, “I asked them to always pay attention to their health and personal safety. I hope this donation will add to the joy of the recipients as they welcome the Festival of Lights.”
