During an operation in Bayan Baru just before midnight Saturday (Dec 2) until Sunday (Dec 3) morning, the police seized 57 motorcycles and issued 88 compounds for various offences. Southwest district police chief Supt Kamarul Rizal Jenal stated that over 40 enforcement personnel worked together in the operation, dubbed Ops Samseng Jalan.
The operation took place on Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah and Persiaran Mahsuri from 11.30pm to 10am. During this time, 57 motorcycles were seized under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and 88 compounds were issued for various offences.
Supt Kamarul Rizal Jenal mentioned that the operation aimed to curb road bullying and ensure that all motorcyclists abide by the law at all times. This move follows a previous operation in which 50 motorcycles were seized by police during a three-hour roadblock operation on Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway in Bayan Lepas, and 144 compounds were issued for various offences.
