IPOH: Some 63 illegal immigrants that have been detained at the immigration depot in Langkap have been deported back to their home countries.
State Immigration Department director Meor Hezbullah Meor Abd Malik said they consisted of 42 men, aged between 18 and 50, and 21 women aged between 18 and 47.
“They have been sent home from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport after finishing their jail sentences and paying their fines that had been decided by court for various offences under the Immigration Act and Immigration Regulations.
Meor Hezbullah said those that have been sent back to their countries have been blacklisted to prevent them from entering the country.
“The programme to deport illegal immigrants is part of the department’s continuous efforts to combat illegal immigration activity,” he said in a statement on Friday (July 5).
