A 64-year-old man named S. Selvarraju was killed in a motorcycle accident at Jalan Labis-Yong Peng in Batu Pahat. The accident occurred at 9pm on Sunday (July 30) when Selvarraju was riding his motorcycle from Labis towards Yong Peng. He suddenly changed his riding position from the left to the right side, resulting in a collision with another rider heading in the same direction. The impact caused Selvarraju to suffer a serious head injury, resulting in his death at the scene. The other rider involved in the accident was unharmed. The case is now being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act of 1987.
Yong Peng Fire and Rescue Department station chief, Asyraf Nur Mohd Yusoff, explained that the collision caused Selvarraju’s body to slide under a parked lorry at the side of the road. The fire and rescue team promptly removed his body from under the lorry and handed it over to the police for further investigation. Nine personnel were deployed to the scene to assist with the rescue operation.
