The Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) has lodged an appeal against the High Court’s decision in August to discharge Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin of four counts of power abuse.
On Tuesday (Sept 26), the AGC submitted a petition outlining 13 grounds as to why the High Court should not have granted the former prime minister’s discharge.
One of the reasons highlighted by the AGC was that the judge had misconstrued the law and prematurely dismissed the charges against Muhyiddin, without allowing the prosecution to present witnesses and evidence to substantiate their case.
In its filing, the prosecution stated, “Furthermore, the respondent’s application was regarded as an abuse of the court proceedings since it was brought forth prematurely, and the trial had not even commenced.”
