KUALA LUMPUR: Analysis by US experts of the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) belonging to the ill-fated Beechcraft 390 aircraft which crashed near the Elmina Township in Shah Alam will begin Monday (Aug 28), says Anthony Loke.

The Transport Minister said the delay was due to the need to get visa approvals for the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) team who were in charge of transporting the CVR’s memory puck.

“We needed to get special visa approval for the AAIB to bring the CVR’s memory puck to the original equipment manufacturer’s factory in Florida.

“This is due to the US government’s strict security policies when it comes to maintaining the secrecy of their aircraft components,” he told a press conference here on Thursday (Aug 24).

Loke added that the AAIB’s visas had just been approved and that they were scheduled to fly to Florida by Thursday night.

In the incident last week, a Beechcraft 390 Premier 1 aircraft flying from Langkawi to Subang crashed onto the Guthrie Corridor Expressway in the township of Elmina, Shah Alam.

The sudden tragedy killed all eight people on board as well as an ehailing driver and a delivery rider who were on the highway at the time.
