As of 3pm on Sunday (Sept 17), the Environment Department (DOE) recorded moderate Air Pollution Index (API) readings at 58 areas nationwide. The highest API reading of 96 was recorded in Cheras, followed by Shah Alam, Selangor with a reading of 91, and Kuching, Sarawak with a reading of 90, according to the air quality monitoring stations operated by the DOE. The API provides an indication of air quality, where a range of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 indicates moderate quality, 101 to 200 indicates unhealthy air, 201 to 300 indicates very unhealthy air, and anything above 300 is considered hazardous. The API data is updated hourly and is collected from 68 air quality monitoring stations scattered across the country. This report was provided by Bernama.
