KUALA LUMPUR: Capital A Bhd, formerly known as AirAsia Group Bhd, is planning to rename the AirAsia SuperApp as AirAsia Move. This move is aimed at expanding its services beyond the aviation industry. As part of the renaming process, Capital A will also integrate its digital financial services superapp, BigPay, into AirAsia Move. Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, the CEO of Capital A, stated that these changes will provide users with a comprehensive superapp that combines travel and financial services.

Fernandes explained, “Imagine seamless access to travel and financial services on a single platform, with integrated financial features such as balance display, top-up, and payments from BigPay. This will further enhance AirAsia Move’s value proposition as the go-to travel app, solving up to 90% of the issues travelers may encounter.”

In addition to the app’s existing services, the integration will also offer users access to various financial services, including Buy-Now-Pay-Later, remittance, and bite-sized insurance. According to Fernandes, the transition is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

Furthermore, as part of the rebranding process, AirAsia Digital, a digital arm of Capital A, will be renamed AirAsia Move Digital, with Fernandes assuming the role of executive chairman. Nadia Omer has been appointed as the new CEO of the rebranded digital arm.
