The Alam Damai Elevated Interchange on the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) will open to road users at 12.01am on Friday (Oct 20), according to a statement by Projek Lintasan Sungai Besi-Ulu Klang Sdn Bhd (Prolintas) on Thursday (Oct 19). Toll collection at the entry and exit points will begin simultaneously with the interchange’s opening.
The 1.5km interchange, which was constructed to facilitate direct access between SUKE and Jalan Alam Damai, aims to provide an alternative route for motorists traveling between Sri Petaling and Ulu Kelang to the Alam Damai area and vice versa. Prolintas stated in its statement that the interchange’s opening is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in Alam Damai, Taman Connaught, Taman Len Seng, Taman Bukit Anggerik, and the surrounding areas.
Furthermore, the interchange will enhance connectivity to strategic locations such as Ampang, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Sungei Besi, and Bukit Jalil, serving as an alternative route to the frequently congested Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) or Jalan Loke Yew during peak hours.
Prolintas also stated that the opening of the Alam Damai interchange marks the completion of the SUKE project. Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the 24.4-km long expressway, which encompass the main line from Sri Petaling Interchange to Bukit Antarabangsa Interchange, were launched on Sept 16, 2022, and June 16, 2023, respectively. – Bernama
