ISKANDAR PUTERI: Four suspects, including two women, previously remanded over the kidnapping incident of six-year-old girl, Albertine Leo Jia Hui, have been released on police bail on Friday (July 26).
According to the Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M Kumarasan, the remand order against the four suspects, aged 28 to 55 years, which ended on Friday (July 26), was not extended.
“The remand order was not extended, thank you,” he told reporters here.
On Thursday (July 25), Johor police chief Comm M. Kumar said four of the suspects may be released on police bail once their remand period ends.
“We may release them. However, it all depends on the progress of the investigation. Meanwhile, the remand period of the 31-year-old suspect who was found with the victim in Batang Kali will end on Tuesday (July 29),” he said.
According to Johor police, all five suspects have no family ties with the victim or her parents, and the victim’s family did not receive any ransom demand from the suspects.
Albertine was reported missing around 8.30pm on Saturday(July 20) by her parents, who ran a business at the Bon Odori Festival in the Eco Galleria business centre, Iskandar Puteri.
She was found 370km away in Batang Kali, Selangor, at 4.45am on Tuesday (July 23).
