In Sarawak, bank employees will receive festival aid equivalent to half a month to a full month’s salary this year. The Sarawak Commercial Bank Association (SCBA) and the Sarawak Bank Employees Union (SBEU) came to this agreement during their collective agreement negotiations.
According to SBEU chief executive officer Andrew Lo, the discussions were facilitated by Human Resources Minister Steven Sim, and the banks agreed to make the payment before Hari Raya.
Regardless of their faith, all bank employees are eligible to receive this festival aid.
“SBEU is grateful to SCBA, its member banks, and the minister for their cooperation in this matter,” Lo stated in a press release on Thursday.
