During the Chinese New Year period commencing on Friday (Jan 5), AirAsia is providing one-way economy tickets at a fixed all-in fare of RM348 to Sabah and RM298 to Sarawak, announced Transport Minister Anthony Loke. The fixed-fare tickets will be available for purchase until Feb 15, or until sold out.
Loke commended AirAsia for offering affordable options to address the surge in demand during festive periods, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to return home to their loved ones. He expressed these sentiments at the AirAsia RedQ headquarters on Friday.
The fixed fares are valid for routes between Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau, Kuching, Miri, Sibu, and Bintulu. Additionally, they apply to the routes between Johor Baru and Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Sibu, and Miri, as well as from Kuching to Kuala Lumpur and Johor Baru, and from Kota Kinabalu to Johor Baru.
Loke emphasized the importance of bridging the divide between East and West Malaysia, pointing out that the Madani government recently introduced a subsidized price cap of RM599 for flights between East and West Malaysia during festive seasons throughout the year. This initiative will apply not only to the upcoming Chinese New Year but also to Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Kaamatan, Gawai, and Christmas, he noted.
He also called for ongoing cooperation with industry players, such as AirAsia, to improve the well-being of the people and build a more inclusive and accessible air travel infrastructure that benefits all Malaysians.
