The individual believed to be the owner of the suitcase containing over RM500,000 has come forward to the police in Petaling Jaya.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulnizam Jaa’far @ Ismail confirmed the development, stating that the individual provided his statement at 4.30pm the day before.
However, there are still various required procedures to be followed, including providing additional statements and evidence of ownership, according to ACP Shahrulnizam.
Prior to this, Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan mentioned that a company had stepped forward to claim possession of the suitcase, with a report being lodged in Shah Alam.
Nevertheless, the company director failed to appear at the Damansara police station when requested.
Comm Hussein emphasized the necessity for the director to present himself at the police station to establish ownership and give his statement.
On March 20, a security guard discovered the suitcase filled with money at a shopping mall car park in the area.
