The new Solicitor-General effective Oct 2 is Datuk Almalena Sharmila Johan, who was appointed to the position by Attorney-General (AG) Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh. According to Ahmad Terrirudin, Suzana Atan will replace Almalena as the new Solicitor-General II, and these appointments are in line with Directive on the Transfer of Legal Officers No 107 and 108/2023. Ahmad Terrirudin also expressed his congratulations to the newly appointed officers from the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
Almalena, formerly Head of the Advisory Division of the Attorney-General’s Department, will take over the role of Solicitor-General from Ahmad Terrirudin, who officially assumed the position of Attorney-General on Sept 6. Prior to her appointment, Almalena accompanied the minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said and Malaysia’s ambassador to Spain, Datuk Akmal Che Mustafa, on a trip to Madrid, Spain with regards to handling the Sulu claimants’ dispute.
On the other hand, Suzana was previously the Senior Federal Counsel responsible for handling civil cases and election petitions.
