In an effort to combat immoral activities, the Alor Setar City Council (MBAS) has announced that it will no longer issue new licences for massage parlours in Alor Setar. This decision was made in accordance with the state executive councillor meeting held on June 21, as stated in a notice attached to the Facebook post by MBAS and the Alor Setar Land and District Office.

Back in June, the Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor had already warned that the state government would take strict action against reflexology centres and massage parlours in Kedah if they fail to comply with licensing conditions. He emphasized that all activities with entertainment elements, including those in institutions of higher learning, must obtain a licence from local authorities under the Entertainment Control Enactment.
