JOHOR BARU: Individuals utilizing the Pasir Gudang Highway are encouraged to take alternate routes in order to alleviate the traffic congestion resulting from ongoing road upgrades. Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi communicated that he has instructed the Public Works Department (JKR) to create temporary road lines as a means to mitigate the bottleneck in the area. “The final phase of the upgrading process is expected to be completed by mid-October,” he stated. “We have received numerous complaints from the public regarding the severe congestion caused by the repair and paving works. As a temporary solution, JKR has implemented temporary road lines. Moreover, I urge motorists to use alternative routes until mid-October,” he added in a statement on Facebook.

In his post, Onn Hafiz also suggested several alternative roads. “For those traveling between Johor Baru and Pasir Gudang, they can exit through Jalan Pandan (FT03), then proceed via Jalan Rinting and Jalan Masai Lama. From Senai to Ulu Tiram, they can exit via Bandar Dato Onn, then continue through Adda Height and Taman Daya before exiting at Aeon Tebrau. As for those traveling from Skudai to Ulu Tiram, they can exit from Angsana Mall, proceed via Jalan Tampoi, and exit at Kampung Ubi Baru,” he elaborated.

Earlier reports indicated that more than half of the 23 roadworks along the Pasir Gudang highway have been finished, with the state government pushing for the completion of the remaining projects to prevent further traffic congestion. Currently, only eight projects remain, and they are expected to be completed by the following month.
