BANGI: Aman Palestine Berhad is threatening to take legal action against the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) if they do not release their accounts within three days.

Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali, a lawyer for Aman Palestine, stated that the non-profit organization had delivered a letter to the MACC commissioner and the director of its Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA) division.

“The notice submitted by Aman Palestine has been sent today (Nov 27) for the freezing of the accounts to be cancelled or retracted.

“If (MACC) fails to do so, legal action will be taken,” he said in a press conference at the Aman Palestine headquarters on Monday (Nov 27).

Rafique also noted that not all 41 frozen accounts under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 belonged to Aman Palestine.

He mentioned, “Some of the accounts belonged to strategic partners, the board of directors, and staff of Aman Palestin.”

On Nov 23, the MACC announced that over RM25mil in 42 bank accounts under Aman Palestin were frozen.

The freezing was carried out after the MACC investigated allegations of Aman Palestin misusing public donations.
