PETALING JAYA: Amanah members who presented themselves as state election candidates, proposers, and seconders on Nomination Day without permission have been removed from the party. The expulsion is effective immediately, said party secretary-general Datuk Dr Mohd Hatta Md Ramli in a statement on Monday (July 31).
Dr Mohd Hatta stated that this action was necessary based on clause 6 of the party constitution, although he did not disclose the number or identities of the individuals involved.
Amanah had nominated 31 candidates as part of the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional unity pact. The cooperation between Pakatan and Barisan has strengthened with the successful seat negotiation. Dr Mohd Hatta emphasized the importance of win-win situations and stated that all parties involved must be willing to make sacrifices to achieve a significant victory.
The polling for the states of Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor, and Negri Sembilan is scheduled for August 12.
