PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (pic) has admitted that his predecessor Datuk Seri Azmin Ali was a good administrator in “certain aspects” when the latter was Selangor mentri besar five years ago.

However, the caretaker Selangor Mentri Besar claimed that Azmin was a “micromanager” who had affected the efficiency of his administration.

“Sometimes, he would take much too long to make a decision while also being very cautious (in making a decision), almost like he (Azmin) was solving mathematical calculations,” Amirudin said.

He was asked to rate Azmin’s performance during his time as Selangor mentri besar by former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin on an episode of the Keluar Sekejap podcast that was aired today (Aug 7).

Amirudin said that Azmin’s tendency to micromanage would be a hindrance to the latter’s aspirations of becoming the prime minister one day, adding that he needed to trust his subordinates more.

“In order to lead a state as large as Selangor, we must be able to trust our team and subordinates. Only with this trust can we move forward.

“If he retains his micromanaging ways, it could hinder his ambitions,” he said.

Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin asked Amirudin to rate Azmin’s performance during his term as Selangor mentri besar in an episode of the Keluar Sekejap podcast that aired on August 7. Amirudin expressed concern that Azmin’s micromanagement tendencies could impede his aspirations to become the prime minister, emphasizing the importance of trusting subordinates and delegating responsibilities. Leading a state as large as Selangor requires the ability to rely on the team and subordinates, and this trust is crucial for progress. If Azmin continues with his micromanaging ways, it may hinder the realization of his ambitions.
