Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari hinted that he may run again for the Sungai Tua seat in the upcoming state polls on August 12.
“Please remember me in Sungai Tua,” he said during his speech at the launch of Pakatan Harapan machinery in Hulu Kelang in Taman Melawati, Selangor on Wednesday (July 19).
However, during a press conference after the event, the caretaker Selangor Mentri Besar chose not to confirm his candidacy.
“Yes, I would like to run in Sungai Tua again, but the final decision lies with the party president,” he said, emphasizing that he would abide by the party’s ultimate decision.
Sungai Tua is one of three state seats under the Gombak parliament in Selangor.
The other two state constituencies are Hulu Kelang and Gombak Setia.
Amirudin, who is also the chairman of Selangor Pakatan Harapan, stated that the coalition will nominate candidates from Parti Amanah Negara, PKR, and Barisan Nasional for the three seats.
StarMetro recently learned that Hulu Kelang will be contested by Amanah, while Gombak Setia and Sungai Tua will be contested by Umno and PKR, respectively.
Also present at the launch were Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, the Pakatan deputy chairman and Amanah president, Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin, the Selangor Umno liaison chairman, Izham Hashim, the Selangor Amanah chairman, and Jamaliah Jamaluddin, the Selangor DAP assistant secretary.
