SHAH ALAM: Voters in the state have been urged to stick with the unity pact government and reject Perikatan by caretaker Selangor mentri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari in an apparent dig against his opponent.
Amirudin, the Selangor Pakatan Harapan chief, unveiled the Tawaran Kita Selangor: 5 Tekad untuk 5 Tahun (Our offer to Selangor: Five determinations for five years) on Monday (July 31) and said, “I believe our opponents in the elections – Perikatan Nasional – will be going through the details of my speech tonight. They will then try to copy what we are doing and make little tweaks to what we have presented because (it is evident) through the reality of their political journey, that they have only copy-pasted what has already been done (previously) in this country.”
Amirudin also criticized Bersatu, calling them a “Grade C copy” or a poor version of Barisan, and said Perikatan was not eligible to govern the state based on their 18-month track record as the Federal Government.
“Selangorians, (please) choose the original and reject the copycats. The original is the voice and the pledge of the unity pact,” he said.
Amirudin acknowledged the role of the former Barisan government in the development of Selangor before Pakatan took over in 2008. However, he emphasized that Pakatan had continued to spur development in the state during their three terms in power.
Nomination for the state elections concluded on July 31, and polling will take place on August 12.
