AMPANG JAYA: A 74-year-old woman was brutally assaulted by her son using a steering lock, resulting in severe head injuries.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail stated that the attack took place at a residence in Jalan Bunga Melor on Jan 20. At the time, the elderly woman was asleep when her son assaulted her with the steering lock at 12.30am.
The attack caused injuries to her head and teeth, but thankfully, she survived. Additionally, a sibling of the suspect was also hurt while trying to intervene in the attack.
ACP Mohd Azam said, “The motive behind the attack is believed to have been the suspect’s dissatisfaction with a shoe cabinet that was blocking his path to his room.”
Following the incident, a 36-year-old man, who is unemployed, was arrested. It was confirmed that he tested negative for drugs and had no history of mental illness. However, investigations revealed that he and his mother did not have a good relationship.
“He has been remanded until Feb 27,” ACP Mohd Azam stated.
