PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has responded to criticisms claiming he has been inactive since the unity government began seven months ago.
Anwar strongly refuted these claims, stating, “I was not asleep for the (past) seven months, we were working.”
He emphasized that the government is actively working towards eradicating poverty, particularly hardcore poverty, and he has instructed his ministers to achieve this goal within the year.
Anwar further questioned the effectiveness of PAS and Bersatu during their time in government, stating, “What did PAS and Bersatu do when they were in the government for three years besides increasing gambling draws from eight times to 22?”
Highlighting the achievements of his administration, he mentioned that the government has increased the price of rubber to RM2.70 per kilo and has made improvements to police quarters, among other measures.
Additionally, Anwar stressed the importance of constructive criticism but requested that his opponents refrain from insulting language. He expressed, “I have heard that Anwar is treacherous, Anwar is an idiot. I may not be right all the time, (they) can criticize and provide input, but don’t insult. Campaign effectively, and there is no need for cursing and insults because, in the end, we are friends and family too.”
