BUKIT MERTAJAM: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has brushed aside talk of Perikatan Nasional’s “wave” in six states, saying it is merely a political statement.
The Pakatan Harapan chairman said that people must choose a stable political approach that rejects extreme views while being able to drive the country’s economic growth.
Citing his official visit to Kedah on Friday (Aug 4), the PKR president said that he received a warm welcome during his visit there.
“It’s okay, it’s a political statement. I was in Kedah yesterday, and the reception was excellent, really good. We can’t deny that. So, in the end, the people have to choose,” said Anwar.
He added that people need to choose stable politics and reject extreme and extremist views.
“We have explained our success in that area,” he said during a conference at the 16th National Economic Conference in Bukit Mertajam on Saturday (Aug 5).
He was asked to respond to PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan’s remarks that Perikatan Nasional’s candidates were being received well by voters in all six states – namely Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Penang, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan.
