GEORGE TOWN: Sporting a new Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional themed vest, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he would improve living conditions in Kampung Melayu Flats in Air Itam here.

The Pakatan chairman and Prime Minister said although the vest was new to him, it also signified that the current government is the strongest ever.

“I am now wearing a PH-BN vest, at first I was confused.

“But we need to look after the country for peace and to ensure political stability

“Now, our collaboration between Pakatan and Barisan, in this election with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in Sarawak and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in Sabah has made this the most powerful government in the history of the country,” he said.

During the Jelajah Perpaduan Madani ceramah at the flats here, he was told that there was only a single bedroom in each unit and Anwar assured that changes should come to improve living conditions.

“Me and Ramkarpal (Bukit Gelugor MP), we must find a solution. How can we live in this condition?

“I will discuss with the state government and bring change into the country,” he told some over 1,000 people who were present on Saturday (Aug 5) night.

Kampung Melayu Flats, built in the late 1950s, is among the oldest low-cost high-rise public housing projects in Penang.

At another ceramah in Sungai Ara, Anwar said he had waited 25 years to become Prime Minister.

“Now that I am Prime Minister, I will not let anyone steal from the people.

“You cannot buy me and you cannot threaten to send me to jail.
