PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extends deepest sympathies to the victims and family members of the Friday (Sept 8) night earthquake in Marrakech, Morocco.
“I am shocked and saddened by the earthquake in Morocco,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Sunday (Sept 9).
“Our deepest sympathies to the victims and their family members. May Allah grant them strength and fortitude,” he added.
Anwar also said Malaysia stood ready to assist Morocco in rescue and recovery efforts.
He also said that Malaysians in the country were safe and that the government would continue to monitor their well-being.
It was reported that the Friday night quake was Morocco’s deadliest in more than six decades, with more than 1,000 people killed and hundreds more injured.
