The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has stated that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has never supported or endorsed anyone in the establishment of a new political party. The PMO expressed serious concern regarding attempts to exploit the Prime Minister’s name for personal gain without approval from the PMO. This action is deemed irresponsible and tarnishes the Prime Minister’s credibility and the government’s administration. The statement from the PMO was issued on Monday (Oct 9).
A news portal published an article on Sunday which quoted a business owner discussing plans to create a new Indian political party. According to the individual, Anwar had given him consent to proceed with establishing the party during an event in Klang. However, the final decision ultimately lies with the Prime Minister.
