PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim made an appearance at the Madani Honorary Lecture Series on Sheikh Dr Yusof Al-Qaradawi at Seri Perdana on Monday (July 10).

In his enlightening speech, the Prime Minister expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the presence of Sheikh Yusof’s sons, Dr Muhammad Al-Qaradawi and Abdul Rahman Al-Qaradawi. They graciously shared their late father’s inspiring biography and struggle.

This momentous occasion holds great sentimental value to me,” said Anwar. “I was deeply moved when Muhammad contacted me, expressing his desire to present Sheikh Yusof’s masterpiece as a form of remembrance.”

Anwar revealed, “My friends and I in Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (Abim) were fortunate to have been close to Sheikh Yusof. He guided our struggle and inspired us to spread the message of Islam.”

He continued, “During the era of Islamic revival, Sheikh Yusof offered invaluable support, especially in nurturing the progress of young people. He constantly reminded us of the importance of wisdom and patience in our preaching.”

Anwar also shared that Sheikh Yusof had written a letter in 2013, expressing his support for Anwar and his allies to win the 13th General Election and form the government of Malaysia.

“The contribution he made to us and to humanity cannot be quantified or repaid. We hold his memory dear in our hearts,” Anwar added.

Sheikh Yusof Al-Qaradawi passed away on September 26, 2022, at the age of 96, leaving behind a legacy of over 120 published books and numerous accolades in the field of Islamic law.
