KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that in his meeting with Indonesian President-elect and Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto on Thursday (April 4), they discussed the next steps to strengthen Malaysia-Indonesia relations. He shared that during the meeting at his office in Putrajaya, they also exchanged experiences and views on their political journeys.
Anwar mentioned on Facebook, “Our political journeys are quite similar as we both faced various challenges before rising to our current positions. Prabowo even reminisced about his time at Victoria Institution (VI) Kuala Lumpur during his secondary school years.”
While congratulating and wishing Prabowo well on his upcoming inauguration as the 8th President of Indonesia, Anwar expressed optimism for the continued strong and enhanced friendship between the two neighbouring nations. He highlighted that the meeting was part of Prabowo’s special one-day visit to Malaysia.
Prabowo, who was declared the official winner of the Indonesian Presidential Election for the 2024-2029 term on March 20, arrived in the country the previous day. As part of his brief visit, Prabowo also held a closed-door meeting with Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin during his time in Malaysia. – Bernama
